The story of Street Lights is based on the life of a Crime Branch police officer, James, (played by Mammootty) who in his pursuit to solve a certain mystery, crosses path with several people and encounters various thrilling events. Will James succeed or fail in his mission and how will he react to the outcome, forms the crux.

Streetlights Shines Bright ;
Megastar Mammootty’s first outing Streetlights seems to shinning bright and seems to be surprise package for audience as it came with much lower hype than any of his recent movies , despite himself being the producer. But much to the surprise and as the tag line of the movie says – Expect the Unexpected , Streetlights shines on all corners be it as a thriller or entertainment. The movie is directed by debutant and renowned cinematographer of South Indian Industry Shamdatt Sainudeen while scripted by another debutant Favas Muhammad.
A diamond neclace is robbed from a millioner jwellery dealer and Inspector James, who is the nephew of the Jwellery dealer investigates the case unofficially.
This forms the plot of the story which continuity in the stories of other characters and how all of them are related to the neclace robbed.
Direction,Script and Cinematography
Shamdatt deserves a standing ovation for not glorifying the character of the Mega star , opting out even the mass introduction usually seen in cop thrillers.
The movie goes with great pace and maintains it thoroughly in both the halfs and director was successfull in producing solid links in each part of the story line which is well scripted by Favas Muhammed. Sadat Sain,brother of Shamdatt, handles Cinematography and did a fantabulous job giving mercury shaded color tone to the visuals and the fight scenes been taken very neatly, deserves applause.
Songs and BGM
The song featuring Soubin and Lijo Mol was very soothing and melodious.
BGM was perfectly apt for the situation.
It was a cake walk for Mammootty. He was damn cool as the investigating officer.
Stunt Silva who plays the villain was at his best annd did an outstanding performance opposite Mammootty.
Motta Rajendran was excellent.
Soubin,Dharmajan,Lijo Mol entertained us while Master Aadhish’s performance will remain close to heart.
It’s definitely a clean entertainment thriller as the director claimed and is a visual treat to fans who love non linear style of thrillers. This is undoubtedly the best thriller of recent times in malayalam and best of Mammootty after The Great Father.
