Kuttanpillayude Shivarathiri has finally hit the screens. The Suraj Venjaramoodu starrer is directed by Jean Markose and produced by Raji Nandakumar under the studio Alanghat Productions. Sayanora finally makes her debut as a music director and her bgms and music sets the mode of the movie and gives a “natumpurathu” feel to the whole movie. Camera work is nice and Fazil Nazer has impressed the audience with his beautiful frames. The movie developes around the silly plot of a constable and a jackfruit tree but this simple and silly plot is potrayed in a beautiful manner.
Kuttan Pillai is an honorable police constable but he can’t take it that his wife, Shakunthala, is the Sub-Inspector and a senior to him. The movie depicts hilarious events that unfold when his children, their spouses and kids visit their home for Shivarathri.
Kuttanpillayude Shivarathiri is an average enjoyable family entertainer with Suraj Venjaramoodu bringing the best out of him in a character which is not something he is used to do in a regular basis. His performance as the main protagonist of the film is the main highlight in the slow paced family entertainer directed by Jean Markose. Suraj Venjaramoodu plays the role of an aged police constable and his transformation was perfect in terms of acting as well as appearance. Srinda and Biju Sopanam (Uppum Mulakum fame) played the role of Constable Kuttanpillai’s daughter and son in law. Their performance was notable and this movie will turn out to be a career changing movie for Biju Sopanam. The casting of the movie was perfect as every characters was given to the actors who seemed perfect for each and every role. Situational comedy and sarcasm are the only two main elements that keep the movie afloat. The movie begins with an hilarious note with a slow build up and finally reaches a more serious phase.
Overall, the movie is just an average entertainer that’ll keep you entertained for 2 hours.
