Thobama, the debutant Mohsin Kassim directed film hits theatre here on April 27. Alphons Puthran and Sukumaran Thekkepaatt jointly handled the financial department for the movie. It features Sharafudheen, Siju Wilson and Krishna Sankar in the male leads and Punya Elizabeth made her debut as a heroine through Mohsin Kassim’s Thobama. The main attraction of the movie is, the Premam team’s reunion and Alphonse Puthran wearing a producer’s cap too.Rajesh Murugesan who had handled the music department of Premam is the music director of Thobama as well.
Sharafudheen essays the role of Thommi, Siju Wilson appeared as Balu and Krishna Shankar essays the role of Mammu aka Manaf.Shabareesh Varma also doing a role in the film as Vijay, who worked as a lottery agent in the flick.The movie is a comedy entertainer. In this movie the makers trying to convey the story of a three thick friends who having the ambition to get money through easy way.
The heros try to make money by hitch or cheat sets them up with the lottery mafia. They try to roce the Kerala state bumper lottery, which millions of Malayali’s put their hope on, to change their luck . At a point, their friendship itself is threatened and the plot then navigates through the troubled times they face.
The slow paced narration make the movie is a intractable track for viewers and the new shade of camera work also failed to hold peoples on the seats .Acting wise Sharafudheen, Siju Wilson, Krishna Sankar and Shabareesh Varma try their best and the new face Punya Elizabeth also grace the movie with her performance, but unfortunately she was didn’t get more screen space to prove her talent in acting.
Rajesh Murugesan choose totally different style in Thobama comparing his former works in Neram and Premam, while the trip song Paayunnu Melle is the best and melodies one in the film. Shabareesh Varma’s lyrics also gave freshness to the tracks.
Overall Thobama is a half backed friendship story. The slow paced narration and the average story lines made the movie as a average one.
