With Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil, Antony Varghese who made a smashing debut in Lijo Jose Pellissery’s blockbuster movie Angamaly Diaries last year is making his second outing. Written by Dileep Kurien and directed by debutant Tinu Pappachan, the movie is tipped to be an action thriller revolving around the life of a Kottayam based youth Jacob. Vinayakan, Chemban Vinod Jose, Sinoj Varghese, and Lijo Pellissery are the other prominent faces in this highly-anticipated action thriller produced by BC Joshy and presented by B Unnikrishnan.
In the turn of a series of events, Jacob, a young Kottayam-based finance company manager, become the suspects in five cases including the murder of a sub-inspector which lands him in the jail overnight. In the jail, he gets acquainted with prisoners Simon, Kallan Devasia and a few others and hatches a plan to break free. The rest of this stunning action thriller is about whether they manage to escape the jail and what life has in store.
Dileep Kurien, the writer of Swathanthryam Ardharatriyil, has done a good job penning an arresting script which keeps the audience hooked as the protagonists keep bumping into one obstacle after another. Nevertheless, there are a few loopholes in the movie and a little lag in the pace of both halves, which he could have taken better care of. Tinu Pappachan, the director of the movie, has brilliantly assembled a bevy of elements that makes Swathanthryam Ardharatryil a compelling watch from start to the end. Girish Gangadharan’s visuals are quite stylish with a rustic shade that matches the mood of the premise. Jakes Bejoy who has composed songs for the movie and Deepak Alexander’s apt background score is effective and as compelling as the film is. The action scenes in the movie are also commendable.
Verdict: Swathanthryam Ardharatryil is a smart action thriller that makes a compelling watch.
